I don't pretend to have all the answers. God knows I wish I did. I do know that we are fighting this from the wrong end. You can't wait until after tragedy strikes to cry out about the guns. The answer isn't to arm our teachers, either. You have to start before. We have to rethink how we are raising our children and how we are treating our fellow adults. Lets go back to preschool. How do we teach empathy? How do we teach self control? How do we place value on self assessment and how do we break down the social stigma of getting help?
We are hurting, we are bleeding, and we are scared. But there is always hope and there is always love. I am praying we find a way to love ourselves and the hurting people around us. Its time to start talking about the real issue and how we are going to fix it.
